Local mobile nursery locations around Ipswich locked in

The locations for Ipswich’s mobile nursery between August and November have been announced.

The mobile nursery is part of the council’s annual Free Plant Program, which gives out more than 120,000 plants to residents annually.

Ipswich residents are entitled to six free plants per year under the program, with additional plants available for those on acreage properties and newly-built homes.

Environment and Sustainability Committee Chairperson Deputy Mayor Russell Milligan says visiting the mobile nursery is convenient for residents to revitalise their gardens.

“The mobile nursery is a convenient way to get involved in creating greener spaces as we bring the nursery more or less to you,” Deputy Mayor Milligan says.

“Residents can also collect their free plants at council’s Queens Park Nursery. This is about making Ipswich a more sustainable place to live as our city continues to grow.”

The mobile nursery will be at the following locations from 8am to 11am:

· 5 August – Fay Carr Park 1, Joy Chambers Court, Ripley

· 12 August – Sandra Nolan Park, Cedar Road, Redbank Plains (Greening your Suburb event)

· 19 August – Riverview Community Centre, 138 Old Ipswich Road, Riverview

· 2 September – Mains Street, Marburg (Greening your Suburb event)

· 16 September – Goupong Park, 2A Collingwood Drive, Collingwood Park

· 7 October – Johnston Park, John Street, Rosewood

· 14 October – Langley Park, 4 Langley Park Road, Camira

· 21 October – Tulmur Place, Nicholas Street Ipswich (Sustainable Inspiration Day event)

· 4 November – Ripley Providence Centre, 6 Amity Way, South Ripley

· 18 November – Redbank Plains Recreational Reserve Cedar Road Redbank Plains

To collect free plants, residents must present one of the following: a current rates notice, copy of landlord’s rates notice, Department of Public Works and Housing rental statement, Defence Housing authorised brochure or driver’s licence or senior’s card with current residential address.
