Golden Globes 2025: Wicked & Emilia Pérez Dominate, But Snub Has Internet Divided

December 10, 2024 11:01 am in by

After months of anticipation, Wicked has scored multiple Golden Globe nominations for its 2025 awards season, including Best Picture, Best Actor/Actress for Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, and nominations in Cinematic and Box Office Achievement categories. However, one notable omission has raised eyebrows—the film’s director, Jon M. Chu, was left off the list, despite the film’s massive success.

The 2025 Golden Globe nominations, revealed by Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut, saw Emilia Pérez, a drug cartel musical, lead the pack with 10 nods. The film, starring Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez, and Karla Sofía Gascón, is vying for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), Director (Jacques Audiard), and several acting categories.

On the TV side, The Bear leads with 5 nominations, including acting nods for Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri. Only Murders in the Building and Shōgun each earned 4 nominations.

The Golden Globe Awards will air in Australia on January 6, 2025, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, who promises an unpredictable and fun-filled night.
