NBN Update on Outages Across South East Queensland

NBN has reported that severe weather conditions have caused approximately 130,000 service outages across its fixed-line and Fixed Wireless networks.

Across South East Queensland there are around 110,000 services impacted in the following towns and suburbs:

  • Alexandra Hills, Arundel, Ashgrove, Ashmore, Beaudesert, Benowa, Bethania, Biggera Waters, Bilborough Lookout, Bilinga, Birkdale, Bonogin, Boronia Heights, Broadbeach Waters, Bulimba, Bundall, Burbank, Burleigh Heads, Burleigh Waters, Camp Hill, Capalaba, Carina Heights, Carrara, Cleveland, Coolangatta, Coopers Plains, Cornubia, Crestmead, Currumbin, Currumbin Waters, Eastern Heights, Eight Mile, Eight Mile Plains, Elanora, Everton Park, Gold Coast-Tweed Heads, Greenbank, Guanaba, Helensvale, Highland Park, Holland Park West, Kenmore, Kingston, Kooralbyn, Labrador, Logan Village, Loganholme, Loganlea, Lota, Mackenzie, Macleay Island, Manly West, Mansfield, Marsden, Maudsland, Mermaid Beach, Mermaid Waters, Merrimac, Miami, Mount Cotton, Mount Gravatt, Mount Tamborine, Mudgeeraba, Nerange, New Farm, Ormeau, Ormiston, Oxenford, Palm Beach, Paradise Point, Redland Bay, Robina, Rochedale South, Rocklea, Russell-Macleay Islands, Samford, Shailer Park, Sheldon, Southport, Stathpine, Stephens, Sunnybank, Surfers Paradise, Tallebudgera Valley, Thorneside, Thornlands, Tingalpa, Tugun, Tweed Heads, Upper Mount Gravatt, Victoria Point, Wishart, Woodridge, Woongoolba, Worongary, Wynnum, Wynnum West.

Across Northern NSW there are around 20,000 services impacted in the following towns and suburbs:

  • Alstonville North, Ashfield, Ballina, Batemans Bay, Bilambil Heights, Billinudgel, Brooms Head, Burringbar West, Byron Bay, Channon, Chinderah, Clothiers Creek, Coffee Camp, Dunbible, Duranbah, Eltham, Fernleigh, Fernmount, Glengarrie West, Hayters Hill, Kingscliff, Kunghur, Main Arm, Maudsland, Mcleans Ridges, Mororo, Mullumbimby, Murwillumbah, Murwillumbah Hill, Nimbin North, Nimbin South, Possum Creek, Pottsville Beach, Rosebank, Terranora, Tullera South, Tweed Heads, Tygalgah, Uki, Uralba.

The majority of issues stem from power outages, which typically resolve once mains power is restored. Services relying on power will resume functionality as electricity returns. However, equipment connected to the nbn broadband access network will be non-operational during a power outage.

nbn network assets may have sustained damage. Repairs will commence following a thorough damage assessment, which will be conducted as soon as it is safe to do so.

Where possible, people in affected areas are encouraged to check the nbn network outages page and with their retail provider for specific information regarding their service.

NBN say that the page is updated regularly, so please continue to check for information specific to your location.

The NBN team will assist local authorities in the affected areas by deploying field personnel, temporary network infrastructure, and essential assets like generators. Their goal is to ensure the NBN network remains operational wherever it is safe and feasible to do so.
