The Repco Supercars Championships Series will return to Queensland Raceway in Ipswich in 2025.
Organisers announced today that the championship would be expanded to 13 race events on its calendar to include the Willowbank-based track.
It is set to be held at the ‘Paperclip’ from August 8 to 10 next year.
Ipswich hasn’t hosted a Supercars event since 2019 after it was dropped from the schedule.
However, the Willowbank track has been regularly used for testing and ride days by racing teams in recent years.
Meanwhile, Queensland Raceway General Manager Josh McFarlane has welcomed the announcement that the Supercars series is back in Ipswich.
“Very excited about the news released this morning and there will be a bit of a twist with this one — so you will have to stay tuned,” he said on River 949’s Marnie and Campo breakfast show.
“There will be something that has never been done at Queensland Raceway before but if you haven’t been to QR in the last two years the venue has completely changed.
“A lot of upgrades, a lot of shade, nice grass, corporate centres etc it is huge,” he said.
The head of Queensland Raceway Josh McFarlane wants the Repco Supercars to now stay in Ipswich after being dropped from the schedule five years ago.
“2019 was the last year Supercars were at Queensland Raceway and we want to hold onto this event for many years to come.
“We have listened to all the spectators, fans, everyone that’s been to QR for Supercars and we want to come back to 2025 to experience it in a newer better way,” Mr McFarlane said.
Queensland Raceway is not the only circuit returning to the Supercars calendar, in 2025; The Bend
Motorsport Park in South Australia will host its first Supercars endurance race in September, leading
in to the Repco Bathurst 1000 in October.
Sandown’s historic circuit in Melbourne will host the penultimate round of the Championship in mid-November, as it did in 2019.
The grand finale will once again be on the famous streets of Adelaide from 27-30 November where
the 2025 Champion will be crowned.
