The grieving family of a teenager, killed while tree-lopping during a 'working bee' in Ipswich, is calling for better safety guidelines for volunteer labouring projects.
14 year-old Lotufou Livingston Sakaria (pictured) died when he was struck by a 12-metre-tall felled tree, while volunteering with members of the Samoan Independent Seventh-Day Adventist Church in 2016.
Lotufou's mother has told The A.B.C...the family wants more stringent safety regulations in future, so her son's death was not in vain.
The Ipswich Magistrates Court will decide whether the Church is liable for the teenager's death.
