UPDATE: Wacol jail lockdown ends peacefully

UPDATE: Prisoners have surrendered after climbing on to the roof of a high-security Brisbane prison yesterday in what was described as a “code silver” incident.

A Queensland Corrective Services spokesman told News Limited no one was injured and no force was required to get the inmates down - they surrendered just before 7pm.

EARLIER: A Wacol jail has gone into lock down after two prisoners climbed up on to the roof.
Queensland Corrective Services says a 'code silver' was issued as part of standard procedure after the inmates went up onto the roof of the Wolston Correctional Centre around 10:30 this morning.
Authorities are now trying to encourage the pair to surrender.
Corrective Services says they will be subject to an internal discipline process once they come down.
