Toowoomba North MP Trevor Watts (pictured above) says the state government needs to ensure that teachers and their staff are safe when working in local schools.
His comments come after a principal at Harristown was allegedly being punched in the face by a suspended student.
Mr Watts says teachers need to feel safe while educating our children
"Teachers should be safe in their workplace -- so should principals.
We know that under the Palaszczuk government we have record high assaults on teachers.
They must face the full force of the law -- we cannot be soft on this sort of offence".
The 15-year-old has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
