Toowoomba Regional Council says it is pushing for a passenger railway station to be set up, as part of the Inland Rail Project in the Garden City.
The council yesterday agreed to to lobby the Australian Rail Track Cooperation for several items including the setting up of maintenance facilities in the region.
Mayor Paul Antonio says a rail terminal in Toowoomba is overdue.
"Of course we have some vision that in fact there will be a fast rail from Toowoomba to Brisbane sometime in the future and now is the time to build the facilities that would support that".
