Lack of licences & dwindling coal could spell job cuts at New Hope.

A key coal miner in Queensland is reportedly planning to sack half its workforce, unless it obtains long-awaited mining and water licences from the State Government.

The Courier Mail reports 'New Hope' will make the announcement today.

The mining company has waited 12 years for approvals, for its controversial New Acland Stage 3 mine...North-West of Toowoomba.

It's also running out of coal at its current site.
