Rain is expected to fall across fire ravaged areas of the south-east this afternoon.
A band of thunderstorms coming in from the northwest is currently bringing falls to areas including Mulgowie, Mt Tarampa, Marburg, Wivenhoe Dam and up to Esk.
There has been reports of small hail at Clifton this afternoon.
Forecaster Jess Gardner from the Weather Bureau says she is expecting this whole event to bring useful rain to those in fire affected areas:
"Obviously thunderstorms can be quite dangerous for people fighting fires on the ground with lightning and erratic wind gusts but overall we are expecting this will be a beneficial thing to help put the fires out".
