Toowoomba Council has today approved a $450 million medicinal cannabis plantation at Wellcamp.
The farm, once it is up and running, is expected to produce 500 tonnes of medicinal cannabis a year from 20,000 plants -- used to treat conditions such as epilepsy and chronic pain.
Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio (pictured above) says it's a very positive investment in the region:
"It means 1200 jobs, it means we will be exporting to the World and of course if you know anything about cannabis farms there is very very serious security.
It also is the thin end of the wedge when it comes to this area".
