Workers at a smallgoods factory at Wacol say they were disappointed to be locked out of the plant yesterday as they tried to negotiate a pay-rise.
Unionists at the Primo plant staged a picket yesterday after being locked out as part of a pay dispute.
The Enterprise agreement talks have continued since March, but Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union organiser Warren Earle says he hopes the dispute can be resolved this month:
"If we can't get a fair wage increase from the companies announcing record profits -- when are we ever going to get one".
It is time to put this to bed before Christmas -- we are asking for a bit of a compromise".
