An egg farm that supplies cafes, independent grocers and markets will close at the end of June, after drought forced up the cost of chicken feed.

Jacobs Well Egg Farm products have been stocked locally and sold through the Rocklea Markets.

In a letter sent to customers, owner Wes Dudley confirmed his business will close on July 1st, due to increasing stockfeed prices caused by the drought earlier this year.

It comes with egg farmers still paying more than $400 for a tonne of wheat, double what they were paying, before the drought.
