There have been calls for Jobkeeper to be made available for workers at JBS Dinmore as the meatworks looks to close for two weeks from August 24.
JBS, one of Ipswich's biggest employers, has cut shifts for its 1,700 workers in recent weeks as it continues to struggle to raise viable kills due to the drought.
The company expects to work over a three day week until Christmas once it reopens.
Federal MP Shayne Neumann said the Federal Government needs to make Jobkeeper available to consolidated companies such as JBS.
"Given the Morrison Government has tweaked the payment three times in three weeks, surely there would be a bit of flexibility to carve out an exemption so workers jobs are protected and be kept here in Ipswich at the largest meatworks in the country", he said.
