Covid-19 hunger crisis grips Ipswich

Demand for food relief has been higher than ever recorded and it comes with a grim outlook.
We have not yet seen peak hunger in the Covid-19 crisis according to Foodbank Queensland the States largest hunger relief charity.
Ipswich Foodbarn Managing Director Qim Kauwhata admitted they are being forced to turn away more families every week than ever before due to increasing demand.
Mr Kauwhata said since the start of the pandemic their centre has been supplying food hampers to approximately 500 families every week but sadly due to food shortage they are sending away more than 300 families who need support.
