Cancer Council calls for Melanoma media blitz

There were calls for our next Queensland Government to commit funding for a mass media campaign for skin cancer prevention.
Cancer Council CEO Chris McMillan said there are on average 4,000 people diagnosed with Melanoma and 360,000 are treated for non-melanoma skin cancers in areas of the state including Ipswich and Toowoomba each year.
She said an education campaign is well overdue.
"We are the skin cancer capital of the world unfortunately nothing has been done for many many years around the campaign on Melanoma and it is a growing burden of an issue in Queensland", she said.
