It's time to draw the curtain on a challenging 2020 and ring in the New Year!

Ipswich residents will only have to look to the sky at 9pm tonight, to catch a glimpse of this year's COVID-safe fireworks event.

There will be three displays across the city, at Riply, Rosewood and Ipswich Central, but the exact locations are being kept a secret, with pyrotechnics planning on shooting 'aerial shells' high into the sky, so locals can enjoy the display from wherever they are celebrating.

Ripley residents are being told to look towards the Town Centre and Faye Carr Park at 9pm, People in Rosewood should glance in the direction of Tom Lenihan Park and the Showgrounds, and for those in Ipswich Central, turn your gaze to the sky above the University, Showgrounds and Limestone Park.

For those lucky enough to get tickets to the New Year's event at the Tivoli Drive-In, there will be more fireworks to wrap up the night of entertainment at 9.40pm.

A word of warning from authorities for anyone attending a New Year’s Eve event to stick to social distancing guidlines, and keep 1.5 metres between your group and others at all time.
