Police have vowed to crack down on driver behaviour to put a stent in the number of lives lost on our roads.
In 2020 277 people died on our roads with 13 fatalities coming from Ipswich and 15 in the Darling Downs.
Acting Chief Superintendent of the Road Policing unit Dale Pointon says drivers can expect a greater presence of police on our roads and more detection cameras popping up.
"Motorists will notice a lot more speed cams over the next 12 months to deal with speedsters red light hoppers driver distraction and those not wearing a seatbelt", he says.
