Ipswich and Scenic Rim residents are being asked to be water wise or restrictions will need to be rolled out.
The region's dam levels at Wivenhoe and Moogerah are the lowest for the month of May in the past decade.
Wivenhoe Dam is sitting at 40 per cent.
An Seqwater spokesperson says SEQ water grid supplies water to everyone on the Gold Coast, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
The region’s combined drinking water supply level is just above 60 per cent capacity.
"Water restrictions do not need to be considered until we reach 50 per cent capacity, which is detailed in the SEQ Drought Response Plan," the spokesperson says.
"If restrictions are required, the residential water use target will be 140 litres per person, per day (l/p/d)."
Last week, the average water consumption across SEQ was 145 l/p/d.
