Darra business fire sends choking smoke into air


Thick smoke can be seen billowing into the sky from kilometres away as firefighters battle a blaze at a Darra business.

Five firefighting crews have been called to help at the structure fire on Boundary Road, which started just after 9am.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesperson says early investigations suggest a tank with oil has caught alight.

"It looks like the oil is on fire," the spokesperson says.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson says paramedics remain on stand by, but there is no update on whether they need to take anyone to hospital at this stage.
