Ipswich City Council has confirmed a COVID-19 positive case at Orion Lagoon is an employee who works at the popular public water pool.

The employee is of the contractor who operates the venue at Orion Springfield Central shopping centre, on behalf of the council and last worked at the site on December 22.

In a statement on social media, Ipswich City Council says:

“The recent confirmation of a positive test result for COVID-19 at Orion Lagoon relates to an employee of the contractor who operates Orion Lagoon on behalf of Council.

“Their last shift was 22 December and since this time the worker went for a COVID test and put themselves into isolation.

“Since receiving the positive notification today, the pool operator in conjunction with Council and Queensland Health have identified close contacts of the worker and they are now all in isolation as well, pending the results of their own COVID tests. “
