A 31-year-old woman has died in floodwaters at Mount Ossa, north of Mackay after a deluge of rain overnight.
Police say around 5am emergency services were called to reports a vehicle with three occupants had been swept into floodwaters at a causeway on Surprise Creek Road.
Two other passengers, a 50-year-old Mount Charlton man and a 30-year-old Mount Pelion woman, were able to get free of the vehicle.
Both were assessed by paramedics with the man suffering a cut to his head.
Both were taken in a stable condition to Mackay Hospital.
A search and rescue operation was launched and at approximately 8am a woman was found dead in the vehicle.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the incident.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
