The Opposition has accused the Palaszczuk government of neglecting women's sport by providing no money in the 2018/19 Budget for the Brisbane Lions AFL grounds at Springfield.
LNP Shadow Minister for Sport John-Paul Langbroek says they have broken a $15 million election promise when funding for the local sports facility wasn't announced by the Treasurer yesterday.
He says it is disappointing:
"It is important for the Palaszczuk government to get on board to support the AFL women's team.
The competition has been a great success for each of the last two seasons.
Young women around the state are getting involved but it's important they have their own boutique stadium".
Labor State MP for Jordan Charis Mullen, who is based in Springfield, is yet to make a comment on the funding for the local AFL grounds.
