Radioactive device stolen from Bundamba ute

Police have issued a warning to the public after a radioactive device was stolen in Ipswich.

The portable density moisture gauge, which was locked in a bright green transport case, was stolen from a ute on Byrne Street at Bundamba on Tuesday.

Police say it poses a serious health risk to people if mishandled.

Detectives are investigating and are urging anyone who locates the item not to move it, but to call triple zero immediately.
