Lockyer skateboarders quizzed on the future of their facilities

Lockyer Valley Regional Council has called in a major consulting group to spotlight the region’s skateparks.

Councillor Michael Hagan says a review and master plan process for upgrades and programs will be held with the Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative.

He says skateboarding, scootering and BMX are popular with local young people, and council wants to make sure it gets their views, as well as other members of the community.

No figures have been mentioned, but council says it plans to use capital expenditure and grants over the next 10-15 years.

At this stage, the focus will be primarily on facilities at Gatton and Laidley.
